Wines of Note

Anderson Valley Gewurtztraminer
Tasting notes: Very complex and spicy with aromas of hazelnut, honey, cinnamon, honeysucle and apricot, plus a floral note of rose petals in the nose. It is extremely round and lush, just slightly sweet with an oily-rich viscosity providing a great mouth-feel packed with flavors of ripe peach, green apple and impeccably balanced with crisp acidity.
It’s labeled ‘Dolcino’, which was supposed to be very sweet. Ideally paired with spicy food (indian/pakistani), but this one was sweeter than most Gewurts - so can be paired with desserts as well.
Made and sold only at the Castello di Amorosa winery in Napa or via their website.

Zinio Garnacha Rioja 2009
Beautiful wine. Goes down very smooth. Low on tannin. Hints of raspberry and cherry.

Winemaker notes on bottle: “This wine is made exclusively from Garnacha grapes, one of the oldest varieties to grow in Rioja. With an intense purple color the wine has fresh aromas revealing a ripe jam-life fruit together with more fresh notes of red berries like strawberry and raspberry. Initial sensation in the mouth is one of bright, fresh fruits that gives way to warmer roundness characterized by ripe round tannins that fill out the palate as the wine leaves with an elegant finish”
